Just as expected, the OnePlus’ next flagship smartphone is officially coming this summer. OnePlus 5 is the successor to OnePlus 3 / 3T and the company confirmed the launch to The Verge, though provided little about the other details.
If we go by the digits, it should have been OnePlus 4 after the OnePlus 3, but it isn’t, as the number four is considered unlucky in China because it sounds like the word for death. As such, the Asian tech companies will often skip the number, like old buildings in the US sometimes skip floor thirteen.
There is very little known about the upcoming device. The flagship smartphone is rumored to have dual cameras and a hefty 3,600 mAh battery, and is expected to sport at least 6GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 835. But we’ll have to wait to see if those rumors come true whenever the device launches.
